善根，佛教术语，（梵Kus/ala-mu^la)，意指好的根性、良善的根性，指能生出善法的根本。将善以树根作为譬喻，故名善根。《入阿毗达磨论》?“能为根，生余善法，故名善根。”（大正28?982b）有时又可以善本、德本来说。
