The genus is named for its false resemblance with " Baccaurea ".
There are two strains to be found in the Karimunjava islands : the first strain is Dewadaru " Baccaurea Sumatrana " from the " Euphorbiaceae " family.
The name Cikapundung is derived from the Sundanese language, and means river ( ci, cai : water ) and the name of a type of fruit : kapundung or kepundung ( Baccaurea ).
