Hsinchih village has 445 households and a population of 1 , 600 living in its four districts : nungchang , hsinchih , laoteng and mingfa . except for the commercialized district of nungchang , residents of the other three districts are mainly engaged in agricultural activities . therefore , most of the young men have moved away , leaving behind mostly middle - aged and elderly people 新置村只有四百四十五户人家，人数一千六百人左右，共分为农场新置老藤明发四个部落，除了农场的商业性质较高外，其馀多属农业经济型态，因此村内壮丁大都外出谋生，留下来的多数是中高族群，年逾五十岁村民约占六成，平均年五十二岁左右，是个典型高化聚落。
