  文中提出了利用图像灰度线性变换来抑制背景图案噪声的影响，突出图像边缘信息；然后采用简单统计法进行边缘检测，得到边缘特征信息图；最后通过对边缘特征信息图在宽度方向上进行均匀划分成不同的区域，统计不同区域的边缘特征点的数目作为神经网络的初始输入向量，对初始输入向量用随机掩码处理和遗传算法进行优化得到最终输入向量，通过三层bp神经网络分类器进行分类，达到了人民币识别的目的。
